All students should be in their homerooms ready to start the day by 8:00 am and not a minute later. If you as a parent are bringing your child to school and you continually bring them late you are teaching them that it is ok to be late. If your child drives to school than they should be to school on time as well or lose their privilege to drive.

RCCA Concerts: TONIGHT!
May 26, 2011 RCCA will be presenting our spring concert at 6:30pm. All students upon arriving must report to Room 10 in the basement of the church. Instrumentalists should arrive at 5:50pm; all other choir members must arrive by 6:10pm. Concert dress for all students is white top and black pant/ skirts. Pre-K students can wear any color. Come and enjoy the sounds of the season.
RCCA Art Exhibition
Therewill be an art exhibit at RCCA May 27 during school hours. Parents are welcome to view RCCA student’s art work. You must enter through the office to sign in. The Jr/ Sr High art work will be on display on the stage (in the gym); Elementary work will be in the Elementary wing lobby. Evening hours on May 26 are 6pm-8pm. If you come early to the concert, please stop by to see what our RCCA students can do!
Challenge to the Classes
Our used clothing drive is coming to a close! We only need 47 more bags (30 gal. size) to reach our 350 goal. We would like to complete our mission by May 31. We are asking that all classes bring in a minimum total of 4 bags (30 gal size). The class that brings in the most bags will be rewarded with: 1st prize, a dress down day and 2nd place, root beer floats for the entire class. Please have the students bring the clothing to their homerooms to get the proper credit.

June 3, 2011 will be the last day for the RCCA pre-kindergarten class.
Kindergarten News
On June 3, 2011 RCCA Kindergarten graduation will be in the sanctuary of RCBC at 10am. This will also be the last day for those students.
New Students, Screening for Pre-K and Kindergarten2011-2012
Screening for Pre-K class of the 2011-2012 school year will be on June 7, 10am-11am. Screening for kindergarten 2011-2012 school year will be June 9, 9:30am-2:30pm Please call the school office to let us know you are coming (748-3301).
Senior Award Chapel
The Senior High (grades 7-12) Award Chapel will be held on June 2, 2011 9am-10am in the church sanctuary. All parents and grandparents are welcome and encouraged to come celebrate with our students.
- Awards given to Jr. High Students are for perfect Attendance, Physical Fitness, ACSI Math League and Academic Courses with 96 or above averages.
- Awards given to Sr. High students include the above as well as Activity Awards (Yearbook, Choir, Band, School Student Award, History, and more).
Grade 6 Graduation, Awards for Grades 1-5
The 6th grade graduation and awards program will be held on June 10, 2011 from 1pm-2pm. Students in grades 1-5 who are receiving either Perfect Attendance Award or Physical Fitness Award will receive those at this time. Parents are encouraged and welcomed to attend. Please dress appropriately for this joyous time.
RCCA Kitchen News
The last day for serving lunch will be June 10. The kitchen will not be open for business on June 13 and following. From now through June 10, the main meal listed and some kind of drink is guaranteed to be available. 'Peripheral' items (chips, ice cream, etc.) will be only be available until the current supply is sold out to ensure as little purchase loss as possible at the end of the year. All students please bring your own complete lunch starting June 13.

Students will report to the room of their first exam. Students not having an exam during the First Exam Period on a given day are encouraged not to report to school until 9:45am on that day. Students not having an exam during the Second Exam Period on a given day are encouraged to leave school after the First Exam Period ends. Students who must be here for the entire school day will report, with materials for study, to the study hall assigned for their grade on the given day. They must be in study hall any time in which they are not taking an exam.
Students may wear acceptable “Dress down” clothing during the exam days, including appropriately modest and neat knee length shorts, capris, sandals etc. However, students who do dress inappropriately face the prospect of being sent home to change. If that happens, the student will make up any missed exam(s) that day, or receive a “zero” for the exam(s).
Senior Graduation: June 18, 2011
The RCCA graduating class will have their commencement ceremony on June 18, 2011 beginning at 10am in the church sanctuary. Seniors must arrive by 9:30am to prepare for the event. The dress code for the seniors must be school dress or better. Friday, June 17, the seniors will practice the commencement: They must meet in the sactuary by 10am.
Medication Notice
If you have medication in the office for your child, please pick it up before the end of school. We will not send it home with the student. Thank you.

Rock Mountain Basketball Camp
This summer June 20-24, a Bible and Basketball Camp will be held at Rock Mountain Bible Camp, with Mr. Cope, Mr. Slawta and John Goodenough, director of Rock Mountain. There will be daily devotions and Chapel with team initiative challenges, and basketball. We could use some help financially to defer the cost and offer a partial scholarship to two students. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Please make any checks payable to Rock Mountain Bible camp.

Ram-O-Rama Gala Event Tickets
Tickets for the Ram-O-Rama Gala Event are now available in the office. The cost is $9 a ticket. The tickets include admission to the chicken BBQ, Chinese auction, silent auction, live auction and a concert by Jared Campbell. All the proceeds from this event will help us buy lunch room tables, 2 Smart Boards and increase our scholarship funds. Our goal is to raise $50,000.
Students are being encouraged to sell tickets for this event. We are offering the following prizes for the students who sell the most tickets.

Ram-O-Rama Student Service Day: April 29
On the morning of April 29, our Pre-K thru 6th grade students will be ministering in music at one of our local nursing homes and a senior citizen community center. Our 7th-12th graders will be participating in community service (raking lawns, cleaning windows, painting etc.) at some of the homes here in the Ross Corners area. At the conclusion of the service day, we will be having a hamburger and hot dog lunch for all of the students and workers. Earlier this week, packets were sent home with Ram-O-Rama personal letters in them. These letters are asking people to sponsor students for this event. We are asking students to prepare these letters to send to your friends, family members and maybe even your dentist or doctor. They then need to be brought back to school so that we can give credit to each student. The school will then mail the letters. Due dates are on the cover letter that is in the packet. If you do not to send out the personal letters, you can provide the office with your addressed envelopes and we will mail the sponsorship letters.

Syracuse Science Fair
RCCA had two students go to the Syracuse Science Fair this past weekend. Tristan Cull did research on “Balloon Pop”. He won Top Honors and a metal. Zebulun Swartley did research on “Protein Effect on Weight Gain in Chicks”. Both students are in the 6th grade. Good job fellas!
i Mexican Fiesta!
On March 25, the RCCA junior class will be hosting a Mexican style dinner from 5:00pm-7:00pm. The menu includes delicious dishes such as tacos and chili, with dessert included. Tickets cost $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for children 12 and under. Also available is a family pack costing $25.00 for families of six or more. For additional information or to purchase tickets, contact any junior class member.
Placement Testing for BCC Students
A placement test must be taken by those RCCA students who have applied and have been accepted at Broome Community College. Those students can take the placement test here at RCCA at 8:30am on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 in the computer lab. To register for the test, each student must sign in at the office by Friday, March 25. Please bring in a copy of your acceptance letter at the time you sign up.
RCCA Art Work on Display at the Mall
Art students from RCCA will be exhibiting their work in the Fine Arts Society Gallery located in the Oakdale Mall (next to Macy’s) in Johnson City until March 31. This art show is open to all area high school students. RCCA students participating are: Lee Jae Kim, Victoria Knapp, Giordan Peck and Casey Thorne. The Fine Arts Society of the Southern Tier would appreciate your interest not only our students but the entire art show, When you are at the mall this month, please stop by the exhibit. There are very talented students not only at RCCA but in the area schools as well!
7th & 8th Grade Quarterly Class Rotations
Class rotations for the 4th quarter begin on April 8. Rotations are as follows: 7A goes to computer, 7B goes to art, and 8th grade goes to music.
Stanford and OLSAT Testing 2011: April 11-15, 26
It is testing time again! The Stanford Achievement Test will be given to Kindergarten as scheduled by Mrs. Rising the week of April 11-15; Grades 1-2 will be testing Monday–Friday; Grades 3-6 will test Tuesday-Friday; Grades 7 & 8 will test Monday, Wednesday-Friday. The OLSAT tests will be given to those students in grade 4, 6, & 8 on Tuesday, April 26. Some guidelines to keep in mind are: Each student needs two #2 pencils; the students should get a good night sleep, eat a good breakfast and be in attendance each day of testing. Please encourage your child to do their very best. The results of the testing will be sent home in your child’s report card in June.
Sports Physicals
Dr. Pillar will be coming to RCCA on Wednesday, April 27. RCCA students who live in NYS may have a sports physical done on this day (also regular physicals for grades 2, 4, 7 & 10). A blue physical form needs to be filled out and signed by a parent and returned to the school prior to April 11. A sports physical is required for participation in soccer, basketball and cheerleading. Students may go to their own doctor to get a physical. Pennsylvania students can have their physicals done in Montrose on a later date. Parents, if the forms are not turned in, there will be no physicals.

Senior and junior classes to serve Moms of Preschoolers (MOPS) at Union Center Christian Church from 9am-12pm; the students are bused to UCCC from RCCA. The dates are: April 7, and May 12.

15th Annual Syracuse National College Fair
The Fair is open and free to all students and who are interested in learning more about opportunities in higher education. The location is New York State Fair Grounds, Syracuse, NY Sunday April 3, 2011 from 1pm-4pm and Monday April 4, 2011 9am -1pm
Clothing Collection Fundraiser Update
You have all done a wonderful job at donating items for RCCA’s clothing fundraiser. We only need 98 more bags to reach our goal of 350! I do have a few reminders for you…please put shoes in separate bags, make sure the clothing is in good repair, no stains, tears or rips, and please DO NOT bring in intimate apparel. Continue in the good work! Help us meet our goal.

OPPORTUNITY TO HELP RCCA
Staples is offering an amazing deal on copy paper this week If you purchase 2 reams of Staples Multipurpose Paper at $5.99 each, you will receive a rebate in the mail of $5.74 each – making the cost only 25 cents per ream! There is a limit of only 2 reams per household, so if you would like to help restock our paper supply at this amazing cost, just drop them off at the office anytime during our summer hours. This deal is only good through this Saturday, July 16.

RCCA summer office hours are Tuesday, Wed. & Thursday, 8:30am-2pm. Our Financial Secretary, Judy Wright will only be in on Wednesdays.
IMPORTANT BUS TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION!
If you have not turned in your bus transportation requests to your school district, please do so ASAP! We received information that some districts plan to make cutbacks, so if they have not heard from you, you may lose your transportation.

Library News
You can again access the RCCA library by clicking “Library Resources” on the school’s website, rccarams.org. The library site allows students to explore educational websites through Webpath Express. Search our library’s holdings and use the Destiny program as though you were sitting in the RCCA library.
Health Notices
- Students entering 6th grade and are 11 years of age must receive an immunization containing tetanus toxoids, diphtheria and acellular pertussis (Tdap).
- All new students entering RCCA plus those entering the grades of kindergarten, 2, 4, 7 &10 must have physical appraisals…
- Within 30 days of entrance into school
- Acceptable if administered not more than 12 months prior to the commencement of the school year in which the examination is required.
Instrumental Music Lessons
Music lessons will be offered again to students in grades 4-12 this year. Lessons are on a first-come, first-serve basis until all spaces are filled. (Prices will be increased from last year.) If you would like your student to have lessons (brass, woodwind, limited percussion) go to rccarams.org, fill out the form and return it to the school by August 8, 2011.
Piano Lessons
Piano lessons are being offered at RCCA once again this year by Sharon Matias. If your student is interested in taking lessons, please contact Sharon at 759-9935.
Varsity Cheering Coach, Varsity Girls Soccer Coach Needed!
