From the desk of the Administrator:

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly. Nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful: But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in this law he meditates day and night.” Psalm 1:1, 2

Continuing Education for Parents of Students

Would you like to help your child with homework? “Brush up” on your own skills? How about signing up for a pilot class in Computer Applications? Over the years teachers at RCCA have heard from parents that they just don’t know how to help their child succeed in school, or that they wish they knew more about a subject to help their child. This pilot program is being initiated to see how much interest there really is in adult education classes at RCCA. If successful and more interest is generated, more classes could be added to the evening classes offered. We are starting with a Computer Applications class which will teach basic computer skills and Word 2007. This 6-week class will be offered on Thursday evenings from 6:30pm- 8:30pm in the computer lab at RCCA, beginning January 7- February 11. If you are interested in signing up for this class, please call the school office asap (607-687-3301) or sign up at the office. Cost is $50 per person.

50th Anniversary Celebration Week-Long Kick-Off

This year marks RCCA’s 50th year. To celebrate, we are going to have a week of “memories.”, where we will celebrate by dressing each day according the decade. Each day will represent a different decade.

Monday, September 28 – the 1960s

Bell bottom jeans, wide belts, splattered bleach, shirts were big and flowing, go-go boots, tye dye, leisure suits, polyester suits, etc.

Tuesday, September 29 – the 1970s

Girls: hair “the shag” long layers straight or curly; at RCCA most dresses were hand sewn, long dresses or ankle dress came in style, platform shoes.

Guys: leisure suits, white pants and plaid pants, varsity letterman jacket; hair-afros were popular

Wednesday, September 30 – the 1980s

Girls: hair longer and feathered; big hair teased from the back; suspenders, button pins, bright colors, leg warmers, footless stockings, frilly socks, balloon sleeves on dresses and tops, long dresses with bustles and hats were in

Guys: hair parted on side or middle; sweater vests, tuxes with ruffles

Thursday, October 1 – the 1990s

Girls: hair curly, bangs were in; denim skirts, jumpers and jackets, ruffle or gathered skirts, baggy style clothes

Guys: skinny ties, pleated pants

Friday, October 2 – the 2000s (the present)

Girls/Guys straight hair-long or short, spiked;

Jeans with slits up the bottom sides, flare bottom pants, sweaters, fleeces, brand name clothing

Clothing must be RCCA appropriate: no tightly fitted or torn clothing, no holes in jeans, girls’ necklines must be above the collar bone and skirt hemlines must be below the knee. Have fun and let’s remember how God has blessed us through the years!
